Graham Turner

Graham Turner (born 1964) is a British artist renowned for his automotive, motorsport, and historical paintings. The son of celebrated motoring artist Michael Turner, he grew up surrounded by both art and motor racing, developing a passion for each from an early age.

At the age of sixteen, Turner decided to follow in his father's footsteps and pursue a career as an artist. He studied at Amersham College of Art & Design before working for a London design studio for two years, eventually establishing himself as a full-time professional artist.

His motorsport paintings are recognised for their technical accuracy, dramatic compositions, and remarkable sense of speed and movement. Throughout his career, he has worked with racing teams, manufacturers, and drivers, producing artwork that celebrates Formula One, endurance racing, historic racing cars, and classic automobiles. His own experience as a rally driver has given him a unique understanding of vehicle dynamics, helping him portray racing scenes with exceptional authenticity.

Alongside automotive art, Turner has earned an international reputation for his historical paintings, particularly those depicting the medieval period. Fascinated by the Wars of the Roses and medieval warfare, he has taken part in historical re-enactments, tournaments, and jousting events to study armour, weapons, horses, and battle tactics first-hand, bringing an exceptional level of historical accuracy to his work.

Turner has also collaborated extensively with Osprey Publishing, creating more than eighty historical illustrations covering subjects ranging from the Roman Empire and the Napoleonic Wars to both World Wars. His work has been exhibited in prestigious galleries and museums, including the Wallace Collection in London and the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, and is held in numerous private collections worldwide.
